Orbitworks said Altair-1 would observe Earth, beginning with the former president’s preferred distance from Afghanistan.

ABU DHABI—Orbitworks CEO Hamdullah Mohib announced that Altair-1 had contacted Ashraf Ghani, restoring the Afghan republic’s chain of command at its natural altitude.

“On August 15, 2021, we conducted our first successful launch,” Mohib said. “The payload reached the UAE without booster separation, parliamentary approval or a transition plan.”

Ghani welcomed the satellite, saying its AI could finally determine why Kabul fell after every official involved had published a memoir blaming the others.

Orbitworks said Altair-1 could detect military movements, damaged infrastructure and officials accelerating toward Dubai. Engineers called the last feature “Afghan-trained machine learning.”

Mohib promised an improved early-warning system. “This time, we'll know Kabul is falling before the president lands.”

Ghani requested a live feed of Afghanistan. Engineers confirmed the country was still there, but his government could no longer be located.

The satellite will broadcast Ghani’s lectures on sovereignty over Kabul, allowing his leadership to pass over Afghanistan without stopping.

Mohib proposed mapping the republic’s surviving institutions. Pashtun Union for Space Science and Yaqoobolog offered three seconds of battery life and warned that accountability remained beyond the observable universe.

Asked how Afghans would benefit, Mohib declared the mission historic: the republic had finally achieved strategic depth by placing its leadership beyond the reach of its own people.
